EUREKA RUN 2011
Eureka Child Foundation, over the last fifteen years have worked, chiefly, in Tamil Nadu to ensuring quality education and healthcare reaches the poorest. To clarify, in demanding quality education all we require is that children in each class be able to perform the tasks the minimum curriculum prescribes. The organisation as a whole (including the chapters abroad) was awarded The Times of India Social Impact Award this year for Global Contribution to India.
A "Eureka Run" was organised last year on Nov. 14th, Children's Day, to raise awareness about the quality of education the poorest in Tamil Nadu receive. A total of 1,500 runners aged between 2 and 75 years showed their support running a 5 kilometer stretch on Chennai's Marina Beach. The money raised at this event has transformed the lives of 500 children. This year the event is to take place on Saturday, 12th of November 2011.
Funds will be raised by charging a registration fee of Rs. 250. Each registration will give one child 3 months of academic help through the Eureka SuperKidz program. All registrants will receive a T-shirt and those who complete the run will receive a certificate.
Registrations are open on http://eurekachild.org/run2011/ or at Odyssey - Annanagar & Adyar, Express Avenue, Royapettah, Chennai.

PROBLEM: Several studies have pointed to consistently low learning levels in schools for the poorest in rural Tamil Nadu. Studies in 2010 found that 79.5% students in class 3 cannot even subtract despite being expected to multiply and divide by the prescribed curriculum. It was found that learning levels can be raised by up to 60% in one academic year, as demonstrated by the Eureka SuperKidz program. This is done through a deeply researched outcome focused pedagogy.
The Eureka Run is an effort to not only raise funds to fix the problem but to also create awareness of the problem itself allowing an interest in ensuring that the poorest children have access to what is so essential to them in school- Quality Education.
Please REGISTER ONLINE for the event and tell friends and family to also. It is time for change and Tamil Nadu's children need all the support they can get. Registrations are open on http://eurekachild.org/run2011/ or at Odyssey - Anna Nagar & Adyar, Express Avenue, Royapettah, Chennai.
