Gujarat Chief Minister bags a award from UN

The United Nations Public Service Awards Programme is the most prestigious international recognition of
excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions to development in countries around the world.

Through an annual competition, the UN Public Service Awards Programme promotes the role,
professionalism and visibility of public service.


The Awards aim to:

In India the Government of Gujarat, which is prone to frequent draughts and water scarcity, has improved access to water in rural areas by engaging citizens in its management through the “Institutionalization of community managed drinking water supply programme and user level water quality” which was developed by the Water and Sanitation Management Organization (WASMO) in 2002.
